activity 5&6

Pornography affects human action and thinking. It increases aggression in a person and commits violence. Aggressive attitudes and behaviors learned by imitating observed models.

It is not violence itself but the context in which it is portrayed that can make the difference between learning about violence and learning to be violent.

Studies show that the more realistically violence is portrayed, the greater the likelihood that it will be tolerated and learned.

Fear of being the victim of violence is a strong motivation for some young people to carry weapon and to be more aggressive.

The ever growing of those passive pornographic videos indicate the effects on child, violence may be even more profound .young men rape woman because I believe that what they saw they do because of curiosity.

Berl Kutchinsky wrote a report on pornography for the American, in which he stated that there was no positive correlation between the availability of pornography and sexual violence. [Mar 2006]

Cathartic effect

Commission on Pornography is mostly based on research by Berl Kutchinsky. Kutchinsky had discovered that the relaxation of porn laws in Denmark and Sweden coincided with a decrease in reported sex crimes. But subsequent inspection of his study revealed that his correlation was poor, since he failed to account for other social factors, such as an abnormally high rape rate after the German occupation during WWII, which would have made any subsequent decrease of sex crimes seem statistically supportive of his original premise. Interestingly, Kutchinsky himself has since recanted his initial conclusions, noting that the rape rates of Denmark and Sweden have *increased* since he conducted his study. It should also be noted that Norway, which has a culture similar to Denmark and Sweden and far stricter laws against pornography, has had even greater success in combating sex crimes (34 percent decrease from 1970 go 1981, compared to a 14.2 percent decrease for Denmark).

MEDIA BLACKOUT... A BIG YES!

A news black-out is unusual, but not unique. An agreement exists between the police and the media over the reporting of kidnaps - the police have the right to request that media organisations don't report an abduction while negotiations are under way, in case it makes the release of the hostage more difficult; in return, they accept the responsibility to update the media regularly and reveal the full story, on camera, once the situation has been resolved. When lives are at risk, it's not always helpful to have things played out in ..the glare of publicity.. Jon Williams  the BBC World News editor says.

I should say yes to media blackout, because camera on, can sometimes devastate a situation. For instance, the hostage crisis at Rizal Park, manila last August 23, 2010, since media practitioner was present during the incident, they just put the Hong Kong passengers to death because of the monitor present on the tour bus where the hostages were held.It was a sensitive story but public interest was already there. It should not have been managed.
The hostage taker Rolando Mendoza have seen what the police did to his brother Gregorio Mendoza, and the other member of his family were in the police was forcing his brother to get in to the car, and to agree that he knows the decision of his brother. I believe that the situation makes the hostage taker burst with anger and killed some of the Hong Kong passengers. The way it was handled, particularly, the outcome,i find it so disappointing.

I know public has the right to know what is happening around us, but I guess  in some other way, like , the media doesn’t have to cover live the incident instead just give the plain news to the public. I think they can create own visual pictures without the live coverage just by dropping some information on TV news can help.

She's a Blessing After All

Being the youngest of the family I was always expecting to be loved, to be cared and to be the apple of the eye among the member. I was the BABY, I thought....It was before. When I was still little, I never remembered that they shout at me, scolded me or even tease me.

It was until my older sister made the "biggest mistake", as they say. She was awarded with a baby on the day of her debut.........without a father. everybody gets bitter  and I thought everything gets worst. We thought, she ruins everything! I burst in anger. I hated her for doing so! She broke her promise, that she would work and sends me into school, which I realize then that I was been selfish. Having her baby affects me, really! I mean it affects how my grandparents treated me.

I'm always grounded, they wouldn't let me leave the house especially at night. I cannot anymore feel the love and care. I almost get jealous but I love the new apple of the eye. I love the new baby of the family though sometimes the fact hurts me that the trust will never gets back completely. I, we, everybody are still blessed for having a NEW ANGEL and inspiration in the FAMILY.

And I'm thankful that this new angel gives us a new light, light that in some way tells us that there's a hope in everything, no matter how bad or good it arrives in our lives.
